Turnkey System for Wind Energy ForecastingAn innovative, cost-efficient tool to automatically generate daily forecasts ...April 10, 2005 -- AMI Environmental is pleased to announce the availability of complete, turnkey system for wind energy forecasting. Based on our extensive modeling experience spanning over 30 years, AMI has designed, developed, evaluated and deployed this innovative tool that offers big advantages, both technical and cost, to wind energy developers and utilities that rely on an outside forecasting service. The system includes both computer hardware and forecasting models. The system hardware is based on fast multiprocessor PC running the Linux operating system. The forecasting software includes models for generating both short-term and long-term forecasts required for load scheduling, including hour ahead, day ahead and next week forecasts. These models are recognized as state of the science models that will be customized to specific wind plants. Modeling software includes the capability of interfacing with onsite real-time data, minimizing forecast bias, evaluating the forecast accuracy and alerting plant operators of potentially hazardous conditions.
